Jakarta Environmental Agency Head Dudi Gardesi highlighted that the milestone inspires a broader shift toward sustainable energy habits.

“This hour-long action shows that protecting the environment starts with daily routines. Switching off unused lights and using power efficiently are easy moves we can all make. Practiced consistently, the benefits will multiply over time," he expressed, Monday (9/21).
He noted that power savings surged 23.42 percent over the previous lights-out drive for Environment Day on June 13, 2026 (75.18 MWh). The boost gives the city government fresh momentum to foster a strong culture of energy saving.
Gardesi commended the public, property owners, and business leaders for their active involvement, hoping the momentum continues to spread.
“Thank you to all who joined. Together, we have the power to protect Jakarta’s environment. Everyone can start small in their own space, then encourage family, neighbors, and coworkers to do the same," he explained.
Building on this momentum, residents can harness natural sunlight by day, switch off unused lighting, and unplug AC units and appliances after use.
Commercial operators and venue managers are likewise encouraged to align power usage with operating hours—without compromising comfort or safety.
Beyond energy and emission reductions, PLN reported an extra perk: Rp 134.27 million in reduced electricity expenses.
“When the lights switch back on, keep the good habits going. Use power responsibly and avoid waste. With simple daily efforts, we can shape a more eco-friendly Jakarta together," he closed.
